CONSCIOUS MIND
Consciousness creeps over me like a veil
Slithering into my head like a snake
Paranoid, flicking and twitching its eyes this way and that
Plotting and scheming, constantly assessing
It’s coils wrap tightly around the innocent child
Suffocating it until it’s gone
Then it curls up, satisfied
In it’s ill-gotten lair
In a dream we were all seagulls
Diving from great heights
And breaking just above the sea.
We were traveling on a train along the coast
Watching birds fly up along the marshes in the glistening sun.
Everyone was there
